Why X Videos Are So Hard to Keep
X gives you a bookmark button and nothing else. There is no save-to-device option, no offline copy, and no download button on any video. Your bookmark only works while the post still exists — the moment the author deletes it, or X removes it, your saved post is a dead link.
That is a real loss on a platform where the best videos are often the most disposable: a goal clip, a breaking-news moment, a funny exchange that will never be posted anywhere else. If you want it, you have to capture it while it is still there.
This tool pulls the actual video file. Paste the post link, get the MP4 in seconds — full video, original sound included, no login and nothing to install.
What You Actually Get
One file: an MP4 of the public X video, at whatever quality X serves for it — up to 1080p where the original upload supports it. The original sound travels inside the file, so the video plays exactly as it did on X.
The file is clean by nature. X does not stamp a watermark onto downloaded videos the way TikTok stamps its in-app saves, and this tool adds nothing either — you get X's own MP4, served as-is, with no logo, no handle, and no interface baked in.
What you do not get on this page: a separate MP3. The sound lives inside the MP4, and this page does not split it out. And the scope is deliberately narrow for version one: public video posts only. Spaces and live audio are not supported, subscriber-only content is not supported, and private or deleted posts fail honestly. A tool that claims everything usually does nothing well.
Why Short Links Do Not Work Here
If you share an X post from the app, you sometimes get a short link that looks like t.co followed by a code. That link hides the post's real address — it is a redirect, not a location — and this tool cannot resolve a video from it. Paste one and you will get a clear error telling you to use the full link, not a silent failure.
Getting the full link takes ten seconds. Open the post itself, use Share and Copy link, or copy the address bar in your browser. What you want is the address in the form x.com/username/status/ followed by a long number. That number is the post's identity, and it is what the tool works from.
One welcome exception: twitter.com links work fine. X's old domain still resolves to the same posts, and the tool accepts it and treats it as the same x.com post — no need to convert anything by hand.
Why Not Just Screen-Record It?
Because you have seen the results. A screen recording of an X video comes out wrong in every way that matters: the X interface — like button, repost button, reply count, caption, progress bar — gets baked into the video permanently, the resolution drops to whatever your screen captured instead of the original file, one notification mid-recording ruins the take, and the audio gets re-recorded through your speakers instead of staying digital.
X videos suffer an extra version of this problem. Many of them carry text overlays, captions, or score bugs that sit close to the edges of the frame — exactly where a screen recording crops or a phone's rounded corners cut in. A direct download skips all of that: clean file, original quality, no interface, no risk. It takes the same ten seconds as hitting record, with none of the damage.
How to Download X Videos
- 1
Copy the post link
Open the post in the X app, tap Share, then Copy link. In a browser, copy the address from the post page instead.
- 2
Paste it above
Paste the full link into the box at the top of this page and press the button.
- 3
Download the MP4
The video file downloads right away. On iPhone it lands in the Files app — move it to Photos from there. On Android it goes straight to Downloads or Gallery.
Quality, Sound, and Speed
Quality is whatever X serves for that video. Most recent uploads come down at 1080p; older or lower-quality uploads stay at whatever they were uploaded at. The tool never downgrades a file, but it cannot improve a low-quality source either — anyone promising to "enhance" an X video to 4K is selling you an upscale, not the original.
Downloads here are fast, and that is worth stating plainly because the TikTok tool on this same site is not. TikTok blocks direct downloads from servers, so its downloads take a few seconds while the server fetches the file. X's video servers answer directly, so an X download starts immediately and runs at full speed. Same site, different platforms, different plumbing — and the honest version of that is written here rather than hidden.
One more honest note on length. Most X videos are short, but some accounts post much longer clips, and the tool serves those the same way — the file is the file, whatever its length. A long video simply means a bigger download and a longer wait on a slow connection, not a different process or a hidden limit. If a download seems slow, it is the file size, not a queue.
If your browser plays the video instead of saving it, that is the browser's doing, not a failure: right-click on desktop or long-press on mobile and choose save, and the same file lands in your downloads.
Use It Right
Saving a public X video for your own offline viewing is generally fine. Reposting it as your own — especially commercially — without the creator's permission is not, and no downloader changes that. Credit the creator when you share, and do not strip someone's work of its attribution and call it yours.
Private posts, deleted posts, and subscriber-only content are outside what any honest tool can reach, and this one does not pretend otherwise. If a post fails here, it is because X does not serve a public copy of it — not because you did something wrong. And this tool never asks for your X login, for any reason: a downloader that wants your password is not a downloader, it is a trap.
One last distinction worth keeping. If you want to share a video you liked, quote-posting it keeps the creator's name attached and sends viewers back to the original — that is sharing. Downloading it and re-uploading it as your own post strips the attribution and claims the work. The tool cannot tell which one you will do, but the difference is the whole point.
FAQs
Is this X video downloader free?
Yes. No fees, no accounts, no download limits.
Does the video come with a watermark?
No. X does not stamp a watermark onto its videos, and this tool adds nothing — you get X’s own MP4 file, served as-is, with no logo or handle stamped on it.
Is the original sound included?
Yes, the video’s original sound comes inside the MP4. There is no separate MP3 on this page — the sound lives in the video file.
Do I need an X account or login?
No. No X login, no app install, nothing to sign up for — and this tool will never ask for your password.
Can I download private or deleted X videos?
No. Public video posts only — private, deleted, and subscriber-only posts are not accessible to any honest tool.
Why does my t.co short link fail?
Short links hide the post’s real address behind a redirect. Open the post itself, then copy its full link — the one in the form x.com/username/status/ followed by a long number — and paste that instead.
Do twitter.com links work?
Yes. X’s old domain still resolves to the same posts, and the tool accepts twitter.com links and treats them as the same x.com post.
What if the post has no video?
This page is built for video posts. If a post carries no video, there is no video file to download — the tool shows what the post actually contains rather than handing you the wrong file.
What quality will I get?
Whatever X serves for that video, up to 1080p. The tool never downgrades a file, but it cannot improve a low-quality upload either.
Can I download X Spaces or live videos?
Not on this page. Version one supports public video posts only. Spaces and live audio are not supported.
How do I save the video to my camera roll?
On iPhone, the file lands in the Files app — move it to Photos from there. On Android, it saves straight to Downloads or Gallery.
Are there download limits?
No. Download as many public X videos as you like.
Why does the video play instead of downloading?
Right-click on desktop or long-press on mobile and choose save. Some browsers stream first and wait for your command — the file itself is the same.
Can I download GIFs from X?
Yes, with one detail worth knowing: X GIFs are actually short silent videos, not real GIF files. Paste the post link and you get the MP4, which plays everywhere a GIF does.
Is downloading X videos legal?
Saving public videos for personal offline viewing is generally fine. Republishing them as your own — especially commercially — without permission can be copyright infringement. Credit creators when you share.
