How to report copyright infringement — and what happens when you do.

Where ClipDowns stands

ClipDowns respects the intellectual-property rights of creators and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The Service does not host, store or index any media: it processes publicly available Instagram links at the user's request, and downloaded files go straight to the user's own device.

Because no content lives on our servers, most copyright concerns are best directed at the platform actually hosting the work. Even so, we take notices seriously — if our tools are being misused against your work, tell us and we will act.

Filing a takedown notice

Send your notice to dmca@clipdowns.com with the subject line "DMCA Notice". For a notice to be valid under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), it must include:

  • your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name is fine);
  • identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  • the exact URL(s) involved, so we can locate the material;
  • your contact information — name, address, email;
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.

Knowingly filing a false notice can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If you are unsure whether a use is infringing, consider getting legal advice before filing.

What happens next

We confirm receipt of your notice by email, normally within 48 hours.

We review the notice for completeness and investigate the URLs you identified.

Where a valid claim involves our Service, we take appropriate action — such as blocking the identified links or content from being processed — and inform you of the outcome.

Counter-notices and repeat misuse

If material you posted was affected by a notice you believe is mistaken, you may send a counter-notice to the same address containing your signature, identification of the material, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, your contact details, and consent to the jurisdiction of your local federal court (or, outside the United States, of the courts where we may be found).

We also reserve the right to block users or links repeatedly involved in infringing activity.
